An eruption from a volcano near the capital city causes many tremors..

There has been an eruption of a nearby volcano near Iceland's capital city and the country's primary airport.

The eruption is located near the Fagradalsfjall mountain, around 20 miles south-west of Reykjavik, according to the Icelandic Meteorological Office.

Volcanic lava is seen gushing from a fracture in the mountain in a live video feed.

The eruption comes after a series of mild earthquakes along a seismically active peninsula in the vicinity.

A 500-750-meter-long fracture in the same place erupted in lava jets in March of last year, and the activity continued until September.

It was the first eruption in the region in 800 years, yet earthquakes and volcanic eruptions are not uncommon in the nation.
