Australia breaks the world record for the women's 4x200 m freestyle relay

In the women's 4x200m freestyle relay at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on Sunday, Australia beat the previous mark.

By finishing in 7 minutes, 39.29 seconds, the team of Madison Wilson, Kiah Melverton, Mollie O'Callaghan,

and Ariarne Titmus smashed China's previous record of 7 minutes, 40.33 seconds.

England won bronze, while Canada claimed silver.

At the Sandwell Aquatics Centre, fifteen-year-old Summer McIntosh gave Canada the early advantage, but Australia quickly took the lead thanks to Melverton.

Titmus, a two-time Olympic winner, broke the previous mark at the Tokyo Games last year by pushing through her leg.
