Dan Campbell explains the hiring of Justin Jackson

When the Detroit Lions signed running back Justin Jackson as a free agent earlier this week, some people raised an eyebrow.

After all, the Lions already have a top-tier group of versatile running backs in D'Andre Swift, Jamaal Williams, and Craig Reynolds.

Dan Campbell, the head coach of the Lions, clarified the team's decision to sign Jackson before Tuesday morning's practise in Allen Park.

Campbell was questioned about if the addition had anything to do with last week's injury to undrafted rookie Greg Bell. Bell is still not back at the workout.

"It is. Bell might be out of commission for a while, according to how we feel," Campebll remarked.

So, to kind of share the weight, we just wanted to make sure that we had another runner in here ready to go."
