A Georgia prisoner who tried to escape from a prison bus five years ago and killed two guards was found guilty of murder.
Ricky Dubose was convicted of killing Sgts. Christopher Monica and Curtis Billue in June 2017, news sources reported.
Now, the jury will have to decide if he should be put to death for the murders or put in prison for the rest of his life.
Gabrielle Amber Pittman, Dubose's attorney, told jurors in opening comments that he was guilty but cognitively incompetent, making him ineligible for the death sentence.
However, the guilty decision was not accompanied by any qualifiers from the jury.
Dubose and Donnie Rowe fled in Putnam County, southeast of Atlanta, and were captured in Tennessee. Rowe was convicted of murder last year.
