In a significant trade, the Tampa Bay Rays reportedly acquire a gold glove winner.

David Peralta, an outfielder, was acquired by the Rays from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday afternoon. Christian Cerda, a catcher, is reportedly also included in the transaction.

Peralta, 34, is hitting.248 this year with 12 home runs and 41 RBIs.

Peralta gave the Diamondbacks a solid bat and a strong glove during his nine-year stay in Arizona. He received a Silver Slugger Award in 2018 and a Gold Glove in 2019.

The Rays have made two major trades this month, including this one. They acquired catcher Christian Bethancourt from the Oakland Athletics a few weeks ago.

The Rays will probably need to maintain their attention on the AL East Wild Card competition given that they are 14.5 games behind the New York Yankees.

The Rays should have a better chance of making a playoff push over the next two months after acquiring a veteran like Peralta.
