RESURRECTED! Last Qantas 747 leaves Boneyard

Qantas' penultimate 747 departed the desert boneyard supposed to be its final resting place to fly 3,500km to Oscoda, Michigan.

The iconic aircraft, originally known as VH-OEJ, left Mojave on 1 June as flight K49329 and arrived in Michigan at 5:31pm.

The plane is now registered to US cargo business Kalitta, offering optimism that the 'Queen of the Skies' won't be cut up for components.

It was stated that General Electric purchased it, but very little is known about the use that it would put it to.

VH-last OEJ's Qantas trip to LAX before the Mojave Desert 'boneyard' was a national media event in July 2020.

Australian Aviation was able to identify the aircraft by its manufacturer's serial number (MSN), 32914.
