Nearly scuttling the Juan Soto trade, Eric Hosmer nearly caused supporters a heart attack.

For Juan Soto and Josh Bell, the Nationals and Padres reached an agreement.

Hosmer had initially appeared to be included in the transaction, but the San Diego first baseman's no-trade clause complicated matters.

It would seem that Hosmer is not interested in joining the Washington Nationals. Hosmer will need to be dealt elsewhere, barring a last-minute change of heart.

Because of his unfavourable deal, the San Diego first baseman, the Padres decided to trade him before the trade deadline.

It would be ideal to send him to Washington in the same transaction that they acquired Bell. They were unfortunate because Hosmer objected to their proposal.

Hosmer is committed to a deal that will pay him $13 million each of the following three seasons
