Phillies defeat Pirates 2-1 to extend their winning streak to four games.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – The decision Michael Chavis made was sound. Simply said, he didn't make the proper throw.

The Philadelphia Phillies, who were in great shape, and Didi Gregorious were only too pleased to profit.

On Saturday night, Gregorious sped home after Chavis' effort to tag him out at third base missed the mark, giving the Philadelphia Phillies a 2-1 victory over the faltering Pittsburgh Pirates.

Philadelphia's Rhys Hoskins hit a crisp grounder to Chavis at first base to start the 10th inning.

Chavis attempted to startle Gregorious by running from second to third rather than attempt to beat Hoskins to the bag for an out.

Chavis attributed some of the fault to the grip. He basically threw Hayes a two-seam fastball, causing it to drop as it got close to third.
