Recalled protein bars include E. Coli

Built Brands, LLC is recalling over 4,000 protein bars due to possible Escherichia coli contamination.

According to the FDA, 1,049 mail-order customers received 4,196 "Banana Cream Pie Puffs" protein bars. Customers got the impacted bars after June 6, 2022.

Escherichia coli was found during routine testing, which showed that there was a chance of contamination.

Other Built Brands items were tested and showed no contamination. The contamination was likely caused by a failure to follow GMP requirements.

Even though the exact strain isn't known, customers shouldn't eat the product because it could be very bad for their health.

Some diseases linger longer and are more severe than others. As of June 15, no product-related illnesses were recorded.
