SF Giants get hits but fail to score any runs as they fall to the Cubs.

THE SAN FRANCISCO — The Giants' expensive losing skid was broken by a victory upon their return home, but following a 4-2 defeat to the Cubs on Friday at Oracle Park, they are back to losing.

The Giants' poor effort was saved by Wilmer Flores' two-run home run in the ninth inning. Up to that point, they had amassed 11 hits without scoring a run.

Flores finished his three-hit night with a home run, making him one of four Giants to record multiple hits.

The game's outcome is evident from their 3-for-10 average with runners in scoring position and no runs scored.

Manager Gabe Kapler said, "We drove the ball tonight, hit the right-center gap a few times. "We failed to score the huge hit.

It negated Alex Cobb's good pitching effort, which came after Alex Wood's game on Thursday that ended his losing skid and included 11 strikeouts in six innings.
