Swimmer from Alabama Rhyan White Wins Gold in 100 Backstroke at Nationals

The Olympic and World Championships medallist improved on her silver-medal finish from earlier in the week in the 200-meter backstroke by winning the 100-meter backstroke.

Rhyan White, a swimmer at the University of Alabama, achieved a significant milestone on Friday evening when she won the 100 backstroke at the USA Swimming National Championships

White recorded the only female time under 59 seconds, clocking in at 58.91 in the finals.

Kensey McMahon also won bronze in the 400-meter freestyle with a school-record time of 4:08.57 on day four of the prestigious meet, earning one of the two medals for the Crimson Tide.

The previous school record, which McMahon set in the preliminary round at 4:09.39, was reduced by about a second.

Overall, she reduced the Crimson Tide record she established in 2019 by more than two seconds.
